  • Graduated from Uppsala University, Sweden, in 2005.
  • She completed her specialist training in Otolaryngology at Karolinska University Hospital, Stockholm, in 2012, followed by her specialization in Phoniatrics in 2020
  • She had the privilege of working under the guidance of Professor Stellan Hertegård, MD, PhD, and Peråke Lindestad, MD, PhD, gaining expertise in advanced ENT and voice disorders.

Profile

Dr. Malmström is a otolaryngologist and phoniatrician with a particular interest in voice function and disorders. She serves on the board of the Swedish Phoniatricians Association (SFF) and regularly delivers lectures to medical and speech pathology students, as well as patient associations, music students, and other interest groups.
Dr. Malmström practices exclusively at Karolinska University Hospital, where she primarily sees patients referred by fellow physicians and speech pathologists, ensuring a collaborative approach to specialized care.Since 2016, she has been trained in voice feminization surgeries by Dr. Hertegård and she has been fortunate to continue this work. Currently, Dr. Malmström is pursuing her doctoral studies, collaborating with Professor Hertegård and Dr. Elin Marsk, MD, PhD, focusing on optimizing vocal fold visualization during laryngeal surgery.
In her free time, Dr. Malmström is also a vocalist in a big band, which has given her deep insight into the demands placed on vocal artists’ voices and bodies.
