Dr. Juan Carlos Avellaneda H. is a distinguished doctor and otolaryngologist, specializing in laryngology. His dedication is particularly noteworthy in the care and treatment vocal fold paralysis and the transgender community, offering specialized surgeries to support gender affirmation.
Dr. Avellaneda completed his medical and otolaryngology studies at Universidad de los Andes and Universidad del Rosario in Bogotá, Colombia. He further honed his expertise through a fellowship in laryngology in Auckland, New Zealand (2019-2021), under the mentorship of esteemed professionals Dr. David Vokes, mainly, and Jacqueline Allen.
Since 2021, Dr. Avellaneda has been an active laryngologist in both public university practice and private practice. His specialization includes voice change surgeries for the transgender population, where he has made significant strides in improving surgical techniques and outcomes. Additionally, Dr. Avellaneda serves as the coordinator of the Otolaryngology program at Universidad del Rosario in Bogotá, where he is instrumental in shaping the future of the field.
Dr. Avellaneda has demonstrated exceptional proficiency in Wendler’s Glottoplasty with LAVA (blue and CO2 laser), achieving excellent results for transgender patients transitioning from male to female. His commitment to continuous improvement ensures that patients receive the best possible care.

- We are currently in the process of data collection and analysis for an ongoing study. While we have not published any results yet, we are working on generating content based on our research, which we hope to share in the future.
