Necati Enver, MD, is an Associate Professor of Otolaryngology and a fellowship-trained laryngologist practising in Istanbul, Türkiye, where he is the founder and director of the Istanbul Voice Center.
He completed his residency at Istanbul University Faculty of Medicine and a clinical fellowship in laryngology at NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital (Weill Cornell and Columbia University), New York. He subsequently served as Chief of the Laryngology Division and ENT Residency Program Director at Marmara University School of Medicine before establishing his own center in 2025.
Dr. Enver has performed gender-affirming voice surgery since 2016. His repertoire spans the full range of contemporary techniques, including Wendler glottoplasty, laser-assisted reduction glottoplasty, tensioning glottoplasty, cricothyroid approximation, chondrolaryngoplasty and voice-deepening (masculinization) procedures. He is a co-author of the first description of tensioning glottoplasty, a novel technique for voice feminization published in The Laryngoscope in 2026. Rather than applying a single method to every patient, he selects and combines approaches according to individual anatomy, vocal demands and the patient’s own goals for how they wish to be heard. His work in laryngeal framework surgery began with his specialty thesis on framework morphometry and its implications for phonosurgery.
At the Istanbul Voice Center, gender-affirming voice care is delivered by a multidisciplinary team in which surgery forms one part of a longer pathway. Speech-language pathologists work with patients before and after surgery, and outcomes are followed with acoustic, aerodynamic, perceptual and patient-reported measures. Dr. Enver treats national and international patients, teaches internationally as course faculty, and serves on the Executive Board of the European Laryngological Society.
