Simon Best, M.D., is a fellowship-trained laryngeal surgeon whose clinical interests are focused on voice and airway disorders, including the comprehensive care of professional voice users and performers. He has developed the Transvoice surgery program at Johns Hopkins Hospital, in a collaborative environment along with a specialized Speech Language Pathology team. This team offers comprehensive care for the transgender patient population, including voice therapy, glottoplasty, pitch-lowering thyroplasty, and thyroid cartilage reducution. He also sees patients for all other voice disorders, with a special focus on Recurrent Respiratory Papillomatosis, where he leads clinical trials, basic scientific research, and novel clinical treatments for this rare disorder.
